Three-weekly black bin collections begins on, Monday 22 September 2025
Here is some key information regarding the change in black bin collection frequency.
- The waste and recycling leaflet, including the new collection calendar, should have already arrived or will be arriving shortly by post.
- If you haven’t received it or prefer a digital version, you can use the Bin Day Finder to view the updated collection calendar and next collection dates:www.westberks.gov.uk/binday
- Collection days of the week are not changing. (e.g. if your bin day is a Wednesday, it will still be a Wednesday, but the frequency of the black bin collection will change from fortnightly to 3 weekly)
One off Saturday Black Bin Collections
To ensure no household experiences an extended gap between collections during the transition from fortnightly to 3 weekly black bin collections, some households will receive one additional black bin collection on a Saturday – either 20th or 27th September.
- These extra collections will be clearly shown on the new collection calendar and on the Bin Day Finder.
- If a Saturday collection is listed, residents should simply put their black bin out on the date indicated.
- These are temporary collections to support a smooth transition to the new schedule.
- If we didn’t do this, some properties would have a 4 or 5 week wait between black bin collections.

Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)
Download the Cil funding form and return to Clerk@sulhamstead-pc.gov.uk
What is CIL?
CIL is a general levy on all new development, designed to raise funds for infrastructure needed generally as a result of an increase in development in the area. The developer pays CIL to the District Council and a percentage is given to the Parish Council. CIL can then be used to provide or improve infrastructure and to then operate or maintain that infrastructure within a community.
What is Infrastructure?
Infrastructure may be a physical thing such as a building, a playground or a zebra crossing that becomes more necessary as a result of the development. It also could be the provision of a service that might not exist at the moment, such as transport for the elderly or a community cafe. For more information on Cil Funding Click Here
